- On
June 13th 1911 in San Francisco, California Luis Alvarez was
born.
- Walter
C. Alvarez the father of Luis retired his job of being the famous
physician he was in the year 1946 and died 1947
- Later
he attended The University of Chicago to be a chemist.
- Two in
a half yrs of school, he earned his bachelors degree masters degree and
his PH.D. but instead in physics
- In
1936 Alvarez was offered a job as a research assistant with a salary of
1,000 a year ,he took the job
- The
radioactivity of tritium, also known as a source of thermonuclear
Energy was discovered right before
World War 11 by Alvarez and a colleague.
- During
the World War Two he developed the atomic bomb.
- In the year of 1945 Alvarez was
responsible for having the B-29 be able to
drop the atomic bomb.
- He was
also responsible for the radar developments during the war
- Was
presented a trophy of the highest award givento him by president Truman
- When
he got back frim the war he started designing and developing new things
such as The prototype proton linear accelerator and the hydrogen bubble
chamber
- On
septmeber 1st 1988 Alvarez at age 77 died of cancer
